Environmental Civil Engineer · Montréal, Quebec (Hybrid)

Our client is looking for a civil engineer specializing in water resources (hydrology and hydraulics). The candidate will have hands-on experience and take leadership of engineering calculations and design working with a diverse group of professionals. In this position, the candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with other team members and assist in the development of junior level professionals within a strong design team.

The person must demonstrate a great sense of communication and organization in order to be able to participate in several projects simultaneously.

Job Responsibilities:

Hydrological analysis across a wide range of geographies and climates.

Hydraulic modelling, including river floodplain and spillway analyses.

Design of hydraulic structures such as sedimentation basins, storage tanks, drainage systems and weirs.

Experience with the design and modelling of hydraulic infrastructures: canal, culvert, weir, spillway, etc.

Develop water management and erosion control plans.

Preparation of drawings issued for construction, construction specifications and ensuring construction supervision.

Contribute to proposals, statements of qualifications and business development activities.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Essential French.

Engineer’s degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering

Member in good standing of the Order of Engineers of Quebec.

Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in hydrological and hydraulic engineering.

Skill in hydrological characterization of rivers and water environments.

Experience with hydrological modelling software: PCSWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS and the entire HEC series.

Experience in water management and quality modelling with GoldSim software is an asset.

Experience using AutoCAD and GIS mapping software.

Knowledge of all stages of development and operation of mining projects is an asset. Experience in the mining or industrial sector is an asset.

Experience in stream flow monitoring programs.

Experience in the design of hydraulic structures – canals, culverts, weirs and spillways.

Experience in preparing construction documents, specifications, selecting and managing contractors.

Knowledge of environmental regulations and guidelines in force in Quebec regarding water management.

Knowledge of current security rules and best practices.

Demonstrates professional judgment, consistency and attention to detail.

Experience in writing service offers and work plans.

Project management skills.

Must have a valid driver’s license.
