Job Overview:

As the production manager of our client’s company, you will play a vital role in overseeing the manufacturing processes and ensuring efficient and high-quality production of millwork products.  You will be responsible for managing a team, optimizing resources, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage a variety of concurrent projects, providing general oversight and ensuring all work is completed on time and on budget.
  • Planning and scheduling.  Developing production plans and schedules to meet project deadlines, considering resource availability, and optimizing workflow efficiency.
  • Quality assurance.  Assuring that all products meet our client’s company’s quality standards and customer requirements by implementing and monitoring QC processes.
  • Resource management.  Managing and allocating resources, including materials, equipment, and labor, to optimize production capacity and minimize costs.
  • Team leadership.  Supervising and coordinating the activities of the production team, including training, coaching, and performance management, to foster a productive and motivated work environment.
  • Process improvement.  Continuously reviewing and analyzing production processes to identify opportunities for improvement, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
  • Budgeting and cost control.  Monitoring production costs, preparing budgets, and implementing cost-saving measures to ensure profitability while maintaining quality standards.
  • Inventory management.  Overseeing inventory levels and coordinating with procurement teams to ensure an adequate supply of materials for uninterrupted production.
  • Health and safety compliance.  Implementing and enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations to maintain a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Innovation and process improvement.  Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement with the production department.
  • Equipment management and optimization.  Take ownership of equipment management, maintenance, and acquisition planning 

Competencies:

  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Varied experience in millwork manufacturing, including but not limited to cabinetry construction, joinery methods and finishing procedures.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and understanding architectural and engineering drawings, including millwork plans and specifications.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, ERP’s, and other general software (Microvellum, Microsoft suite, Quickbooks, etc.)
  • Analytical thinking.  Must be able to gather and evaluate information from various sources and have the ability to break down complex problems.
  • Critical thinking.  The ability to identify and define problems within the production process, investigate the root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Decision making.  The ability to assess different options, consider potential risks and benefits, and choose the most appropriate course of action.
  • Attention to detail.  The production manager should have a meticulous approach to review and verify data, measurements, and specifications to avoid errors that may lead to production defects or delays.
