Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structured Cabling Technicians to join their team. The technician will be responsible for the installation, termination, testing, and maintenance of low-voltage cabling systems for voice, data, and audio-video networks. The ideal candidate has experience working in commercial and industrial environments and can read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and floor plans.
Role: Structured Cabling technicians (senior and junior)
Location: Ottawa with some international travel
Reports to: Infrastructure Partner

Responsibilities include:

Installation and testing of optical and copper cabling systems,
-
Installation of various technical equipment and hardware
-
Build, dress, and manage network and AV racks, patch panels, and cable management systems

Install various technical hardware
-
Conduct testing and certification of cable systems using industry-standard equipment (e.g., Fluke testers)

Troubleshoot and repair systems as needed

Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics

Ensure all installations comply with industry standards (e.g., EIA/TIA, BICSI) and local codes

Work in ceilings, walls, crawl spaces, and various construction or finished environments

Collaborate with project managers, IT teams, and contractors to deliver projects on time

Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, service calls, and inspections
Requirements:
-
Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in structured cabling, AV, and networking preferred but not mandatory
-
Understanding of BICSI, EIA/TIA standards, and general low-voltage best practices

Proficient with hand tools and power tools used in cable and AV installations

Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
